DIAMOND ON
THE LAKE

Step inside this modern, black Scandinavian exterior to discover an ethereal white interior adorned with soft, layered textures that define the lakeside refuge for a busy Manhattan-based family.

This sleek, modern exterior is a welcomed disruption to the otherwise traditional homes in the area. It is minimal and sustainable, and the roof, adorned with Tesla shingles, enables self-sufficient electricity production.

A cozy second-floor balcony sitting area is perfect for sunsets with a glass of wine by the fire table and matches the home’s interiors with all-white furniture.

The entryway is serene and understated, with wide-open lake views immediately upon entering. The space's minimalist vibe sets the tone for the rest of the home.

A large, double-height space houses the kitchen, dining room, and living room. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer incredible views of the lake, bringing the colors of nature into the muted, monochromatic home. Most of the kitchen was designed to disappear essentially, with slab cabinetry for a minimalist effect and a hidden pantry allowing most kitchenwares to be hidden. However, the crystallized Iceberg island is the space's centerpiece. With integrated lighting within, the island glows at night, creating the perfect ambiance for summer parties.

Off of the kitchen, the formal living room is cozy and intimate. It has a sculptural, curved sofa facing the fireplace, while natural materials in the travertine coffee table and wool rug soften the space. A double-height fireplace is finished in a Venetian plaster, offering a subtle textural touch and elevating the space among the surrounding white walls.

The dining room is breathtaking, with a custom double-height chandelier made up of delicate porcelain shades resembling lilies cascading from the ceiling. When lit, the soft glow warms the space beautifully, highlighting the eight C-Chairs below with their warm wood tones and French caning.

The home’s library continues the minimalist theme, with a long wall of built-in shelves and a chic ladder to reach the tallest shelves. The custom table was designed to provide a cohesive aesthetic with the rest of the home while also providing hidden power outlets and space to hide laptops when family members need to work during the day. The white Eames lounge is a perfect spot for lazy weekends spent reading. The space is warm, cozy, and incredibly calming.

All of the ancillary bathrooms feature unique tiles while carrying in a cohesive palette of earthy textures and crisp neutrals. White plumbing fixtures throughout add an unexpected touch while continuing the monochromatic aesthetic of the home.

A cozy seating area at the top of the stairs offers soaring lake views above the open space below.

No lake home is complete with a serene primary suite, and this home delivers. The ultra-minimal bedroom is all white, blush, and light oak tones. A plastered half-wall houses the king bed, allowing the bed to face the sweeping lake views for an incredible retreat. The closet is behind the wall, open to the bedroom but concealed in custom cabinetry meant to disappear into the surrounding white walls.

The ensuite primary bathroom continues the minimalist design with a floating oak double vanity and an oversized soaking tub. Sleek, black hardware and fixtures modernize the space. Thoughtful details like the 10-foot-long curbless shower, hidden drain, and textured wall tiles add visual interest.

Downstairs, the media room departs from the all-white palette to cocoon you in a warm, cozy texture. Limewashed walls and a custom sofa draw you in. The sofa was designed to perfectly wrap the room and provide 48” deep seats so that everyone gets a good spot and can comfortably curl up to watch a movie.

The young daughter’s room is sweet and luxurious while remaining a cohesive part of the home. Designed to transition, the large wool rug is a soft play space now, while the solid wood crib easily converts to a toddler bed as the child grows. The five-foot alpaca sculpture adds a whimsical touch to the space.

The little girl’s bathroom is decidedly feminine while remaining modern and cohesive with the rest of the home. Terrazzo tiles pair beautifully with blush glass tiles, while the oak vanity matches the rest of the home’s bathrooms. Luxurious gold hardware is a chic upgrade to the practical space.
