Sleek and unassuming, this new construction home in Chicago’s Lincoln Park was designed as a highly functional city home with plenty of space for entertaining and hosting.

Immediately introducing this blend of function and beauty, the entryway’s floating walnut console provides plenty of space to drop mail, keys, and sunglasses, while a coat closet hides the necessary outerwear for life in Chicago. A floor-to-ceiling mirror expands the small space, reflecting the gorgeous front living room. 

The front living room, with rich textures and earth tones from the leather accent chairs, velvet throw pillows, and custom drapery, is an elevated gathering space for cocktail hour. The sofa in front of the window was selected with a low back for the family’s dog to perch upon, watching the city bustle by. A cluster of coffee tables in front of the fireplace ensures a spot to set a drink away from wagging tails. The fireplace is warm and inviting, with custom paintings by Chicago’s Matt Nguyen on both sides and white fluted detailing carrying the eye from the mantle to the ceiling.

Guests can easily flow from the living room to the dining room, where blue velvet chairs surround a walnut table with room for eight. A draped rope chandelier blends sleek lines with playful, organic shapes, drawing the eye up to ceiling detail molding and a gallery wall, continuing the earthy color palette in the gallery wall.

The kitchen is a dream, with plenty of workspace and storage surrounding a central square island. Cream, oak, and navy cabinets provide a high-end mix of materiality, while luxurious opus quartzite stone countertops add a durable touch. A butler’s pantry hides away more kitchen details while providing more storage space.

An open floor plan invites large gatherings to flow naturally between the kitchen and the great room. A custom sectional grounds the room and focuses the attention on the custom built-ins flanking the luxe fireplace. Cozy textures from the wool rug, sofa upholstery, and shearling throw pillows soften the space’s geometric lines. A statement slat surround provides an accent transition space to the outdoor areas, adding character and materiality.

Behind the sofa, a console table serves as a second drop-space serving the back entrance from the garage.

Upstairs, the primary suite serves as the ultimate respite from city life. A custom headboard and bedframe are wrapped in a pewter boucle, providing texture and drama to the space. Continuing the vertical lines from the channeled effect in the headboard, two alabaster pendant lights and mirrors flank the bed, making the room feel even taller and keeping nightstands clear for personal items.

A sitting area in front of the fireplace is a dreamy space for a cup of coffee, where velvet lounge chairs invite cozy, slow mornings. A pair of dressers on each side of the fireplace provides more storage and carries walnut to the second floor.

The primary bath includes a beautiful soaking tub and deep shower with two rain heads. Stunning stone and glass blend materials elegantly, while walnut and black stone vanities add a masculine edge to the space.

The home office is bright and airy, designed for productivity. A wall of custom built-in shelving and desk space surround dreamy wallpaper, while a custom desk centers the space. Sculptural white oak legs feature brass detailing, and an elegant stone slab creates the work surface. 

The second floor also features two guest suites. The first suite is a bright, neutral space with rich textures from the sheepskin floor rug, linen bedframe, and velvet pillows. 

The second suite is an oasis with smoky, deep walls that surround guests in coziness. A deep charcoal wool rug blends with the walls, while an ivory bed stands in dramatic contrast in the moody space. 

On the third floor, an elegant lounge offers a variety of hangout spaces. From the roof deck lounge and dining area to the adult lounge and wet bar, the space is easy to entertain in. A cluster of coffee tables adds visual interest and materiality, while a cozy boucle lounge is a chic spot to curl up in. A fluted black marble statement wall amplifies the drama in the bar space and creates a defined transition into the home office.

The basement rec room is a moody gem, drenched in charcoal paint. An oversized custom sectional blends in with luxe black velvet upholstery. A built-in wine storage space and wet bar ensure an elevated entertaining space, perfect for movie nights.

Downstairs, a third guest suite is rich in taupe and browns, offering a decidedly elevated space for rest. Shearling ottomans and velvet pillows lend a soft touch, while smoky steel lamps offer angularity and weight.
