Introducing: DGI With a Spritz
We’re back with some of our favorite repeat clients, this time swapping the vibrant energy of their Logan Square home (DGI With a Twist) for the tranquility of lakefront living. Their new getaway, DGI With a Spritz, is a serene and soulful counterpart to their city space, reflecting a refined Scandinavian influence with hints of Japandi ease.
Designed in collaboration with SLH for architecture, the home is grounded in clean lines and verticality. Our approach complements the home’s sculptural details with soft curves, welcoming textures, and furnishings that create a sense of calm without sacrificing character.
MOODBOARD:
We focused on warm, neutral hues and tactile materials that bring quiet depth and comfort. Textiles and drapery introduce softness both in tone and movement, while sculptural furniture helps balance the minimal architecture with organic form. The clients were especially excited to make art a focal point in this home, so we prioritized moments where their collection could truly shine.
Even in a muted palette, there’s a sense of vibrancy, thanks to thoughtful use of texture, curated faux greenery, and expansive spaces that frame the lake views like a piece of art in themselves. The result is a mood that’s subtle yet elevated and full of intention, setting the stage for the lakehouse life they’ve been dreaming of.
LIVING ROOM:

With exposed beams overhead and recessed lighting tucked into architectural slots, the living room sets a tone of quiet structure. Low, horizontal lines stretch across the space, creating a grounded feel that mirrors the surrounding landscape
To soften the architecture’s precision, we brought in gently curved furniture in a mix of performance and natural fabrics that is practical for a young family, without compromising style. Every piece was chosen to feel easy, not overworked.
WINE WALL:
Tucked just behind the kitchen, this custom wine wall blends seamlessly into the home’s aesthetic. The kitchen cabinetry features soft radius curves, so we carried that same language into this built-in, creating a cohesive, sculptural moment.
LED lighting is hidden along the perimeter, casting a subtle glow that outlines the wall’s form. A brass metal inlay traces the lighting path, adding a warm, refined detail that elevates the design.
While visually striking, the wine wall is also highly functional. It holds up to 77 bottles and conceals slim pantry pull-outs with integrated shelving… proof that storage and style can go hand in hand!
DINING ROOM:
At the center of the home, the dining room features a soaring double-height ceiling that sets the tone for drama and scale. We celebrated this height with full-length drapery to add softness and a vertical movement. Then, paired it with a rice textured light fixture that casts a gentle, ambient glow.
A 167-inch custom Caralarga textile artwork draws the eye upward, introducing handcrafted texture and artistry. While surrounding spaces lean into lighter tones, we chose a warm wood for the dining table. This decision is both for durability (a nod to real-life moments, like chili oil spills) and to add contrast. A tonal rug grounds the setting, bringing warmth and cohesion to this expansive, light-filled space.
GUEST BEDROOM:
Designed with comfort in mind, the guest bedroom offers a serene retreat for visitors. A darker wood bed frame grounds the room with warmth and richness, creating a cozy, inviting focal point that complements the textured wallpaper and soft lighting. Storage was thoughtfully integrated into the bench and nightstands, ensuring that guests have plenty of room to settle in and feel truly at home.
LIBRARY:
Designed to feel both inviting and thoughtfully layered, the library encourages quiet moments wrapped in comfort. We emphasized layering with carefully curated accessories and a sleek built-in that balances function and style.
A standout feature here is a striking artwork by Michigan-born artist Stef Shock, whose personal connection made the piece especially meaningful. Picture lights above cast gentle shadows, highlighting the artwork’s textured, frayed edges and adding depth to the space.
PORCH:
Fully screened in, the porch is designed as the ultimate gathering spot. We crafted a custom banquet bench upholstered in durable outdoor performance fabric, paired with a large table perfect for hosting friends and family.
A kitchenette with a fridge, trash pull-out, and ice maker ensures convenience for any occasion. Vertical lines that are seen throughout the home are echoed here in the pendant lighting and subtly referenced in the rope detailing on the chairs. To balance those linear elements, the outdoor seating features gentle curves, creating a welcoming, comfortable space to linger.
PRIMARY BEDROOM:
With windows that open up to lake views, the primary bedroom is designed to feel serene. An upholstered bed wall, paired with a matching upholstered bed frame, adds softness and dimension, while curved nightstands bring in an organic feel that complements the room’s architecture.
Layered bedding creates quiet depth, and an asymmetrical art piece was chosen to accentuate the sloped double-height ceiling, turning the wall into a subtle statement. A 360-degree swivel chair offers a cozy spot to take in the views from any angle.
To keep the space feeling calm and uninterrupted, closed-door closets are discreetly tucked away, maintaining the clean, minimal aesthetic throughout.
BUNKBED ROOM:
Designed as a flexible space for both kids and guests, the bunkroom keeps things cozy with a warm, neutral palette. White oak adds a sense of continuity, while the curved edges of the built-in bunks keep the scale kid-friendly and approachable.
Each bed is outfitted with its own sconce for personal lighting, and the lower bunks include recessed bookshelves for added function. Artwork above the top bunks brings in playful personality, while a soft, warm paint color wraps the walls and ceiling to help the large room feel more intimate. Layered textures in the dresser and furnishings add depth and warmth to round out the space.
BASEMENT FAMILY ROOM:
This lower-level space was designed for everyday living: equal parts family room and kids’ zone. A darker-toned performance sectional floats in front of a custom media built-in, while white oak shelving holds wood montessori decor, which double as decor and toys.
In the adjacent gym, arched backlit mirrors and minimalist flush mounts create a clean, modern vibe. Wall planks in a tone-matched finish add texture, while built-ins neatly conceal the weight rack and gear for a streamlined look.
DGI With a Spritz is a study in softness, simplicity, and thoughtful detail, from serene material choices to practical, family-friendly layers. Every space was shaped to feel intentional and easy, with just the right balance of warmth and refinement.
